A few tips for our new arrivals to Canada as well as some of us who may need a refresher! Between Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo there are different rules and by-laws specific to the winter months, mostly surrounding snow removal and parking.
If you are a home or business owner, please clear sidewalks within 24 hours after the end of a snowfall. What if the snow never stops falling, you ask, great question – first off, isn’t Southwestern Ontario great? Secondly, try your best while staying safe, but know that city crews can clear them at your expense. If you need assistance for health or mobility restrictions, see contact information near the bottom of the linked page below.
Avoid parking on the street…at all. Each city has different rules around time frames, but bottom line, during these snowy months it is best to keep streets as clear as we can. With heavy or long snowfalls large snowbanks can form, this means low visibility both for drivers and pedestrians. No matter what you are doing, go slow and keep an eye out for each others’ families.
It can be a challenging couple of months, but it is something that goes along with living in our beautiful region! We are so grateful for where we live so stay positive, stay warm a be a good neighbour.
