Will your home make a good “second” impression?

January 22, 2020

I’m sure you’ve heard that first impressions are important. And it’s true! When it comes to selling your home first impressions are important, but so are second impressions.

Let me explain further…

In the real estate business, the first impression is also sometimes referred to as ‘Curb Appeal’. How does the home look from the outside? A home with good curb appeal will attract more potential buyers.

But what happens with those potential buyers when they step inside the door?

Here comes the “second” impression”, the feeling a prospective buyer gets when they open the front door. It needs to feel like home. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve heard, “I knew this was it from the moment I stepped in the door”.

But how do you make a good “second” impression?

  • It needs to smell good. There is nothing more unsettling then walking into a home that wrecks of animal, smoke, certain foods or over powering air-fresheners.
  • It needs to be clean. Declutter and make this area as bright and welcoming as possible.
