It’s Queen Victoria’s Birthday on Monday which means no school for the little ones and no work for most of us. The Region of Waterloo has several things going on which the entire family can participate in to celebrate!
If you’re hoping to see some fireworks, Conestogo and New Dundee are the places to go in the region.
Conestogo Park will open at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 18thfor a children’s bike safety rodeo. The park will then close and reopen at 6:00 pm for the fireworks show scheduled to start at dusk.
New Dundee community center has their fireworks show on Sunday, May 19thscheduled to start at Dusk. Admission is free for everyone but donations are always welcomed!

6thAnnual Baden Race is also taking place at the Wilmot Recreation Complex at 1291 Nafziger Rd in Baden. This race includes individual and relay options for the 5 km run – 26 km bike – 5 km run on Saturday May 18thstarting 8:30 am. Victoria Day Steam Ride – Participate on this historic train ride pulled by Waterloo’s 96-year-old #9 steam engine. Non-stop ride, available to all ages, and a photo opportunity!

Roos Island Bandshell – Come out to Victoria Park for a free concert put on by the Kitchener Musical Society Band! Who doesn’t enjoy live music while enjoying the outdoors.

International Tour of Taiwan Gourmet Cuisines – If you have an interest in learning some international recipes from Taiwan or sampling Taiwanese food this event is for you. Two head chefs from Taiwan will demonstrate how to cook selected main dishes and offer a taste test to the audience.
